Barbourville purchased and is implementing DISCOVERY EDUCATION ASSESSMENT for students in Kindergarten through High School. This program is a computer based assessment solutions that help teachers measure and improve student achievement. In the past two weeks , students have been given the Reading and Math assessment for their specific grade level, teachers have worked with Ms. Dixon to analyze the results and are using the results to guide their classroom instruction. This computer based program is full of teacher and parent resources. Take a look at discoveryeducation.com and ask your child's teacher to see his/her progress report from the assessment. The Science and Social Studies will be given beginning this week.
Dolch Sight Words Students in Preschool through 5th grade have been working to improve their reading scores. One way to improve fluency is to know all the sight words. Sight words are words that appear frequently in text and should be recognized immediately by students. All students have been assessed to check progress. Each classroom teacher has the results for your child. If your child has mastered their specific grade level please feel free to work ahead and assist your child with the upper grade level list.
