BARBOURVILLE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
HOME OF THE TIGERS

Recently Mrs. Miracle’s Fourth Grade Class studied the artist, Diego Rivera. He painted a masterpiece called, Allegory of California. His style of painting was very large murals.
The students decided to use Diego Rivera’s Allegory as an inspiration for their own mural. Mrs. Miracle’s Class planned, and then drew, Allegory of Barbourville Elementary. This is the picture you see here. The woman with blue hair and sunglasses represents the school as a beautiful, cool, strong person. The woman is holding the foundation of the school, the teachers, principal and superintendent. The next level holds the instructional assistants, custodians, cooks, and secretaries. The students stand at the top of the pyramid, which is being supported by all those just, mentioned.
Within the school are books, computers, paper, pencils, and other school materials. Around the woman’s neck hangs a necklace made of books, pencils, and a tiger. All around the outside of the woman are school buses, playground equipment, trees, birds, the sun, and other familiar sights we see around our school. The mural took several days to plan and complete. The students took this project very seriously and created a mural that everyone in the school enjoyed.
