Lt. Colonel Mike Warren, a 1968 graduate of Barbouville High School will be the featured speaker during Veteran’s Day activities at the Treadway Activity Center on Friday, November 10th, beginning at 1:30 p.m. All veteran’s are welcome and will be recognized.
LTC Warren graduated from Union College (Degree in Biology) and is married to the former Sharon Keys and they have three children and six grandchildren. His military assignments include: Radio Operator with the 75th INF Ranger), Republic of Vietnam, Medical Platoon Leader with the 149th, Personnel, Supply, Training, Executive Officer, and ROTC Instructor. He is currently the commander of the 3rd Squadron, 397th Calvary at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
He has attended Airborne School, Army Medical School, Armour School-Advanced Course, and the United States Army Command and General Staff College.
Some of his awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with Valor, the Purple Heart, the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with Valor three oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, Ranger Tab, and Parachutist Badge.
Barbourville City Schools along with all other public schools have a program each Veteran’s Day to honor the men and women who have served our nation in uniform.
