Renovation is being planned for the spring of 2002 on the part of the elementary building that was built in 1957. In order to bring that part up to the 2002 standards, energy-efficient windows, central heat and air, doors, drop ceilings, restrooms, and other related parts of the building will be installed. It is anticipated that the elementary renovation activities will be completed by Labor Day, 2002.

Barbourville City Schools' Board Chairman, Shirley F. Treadway and Kentucky Governor Paul Patton discuss the progress of the gym construction for the high shcool on August 28, 2001.
