Winter Festival 2001

     As with tradition in the Barbourville Elementary, it is once again time for the Winter Festival. This year’s event will be held on the Thursday and Friday, November 29th and 30th, following Thanksgiving at the Union College gym. The Thursday night performance will begin at 7 p.m. and Friday’s matinee will be held at 1 p.m. The admission will be $2 for everyone, excluding children under school age who will not be charged.
     The theme for this year’s presentation is “God Bless America”. The preschool will be performing a lively version of “You’re a Grand Old Flag” while the Kindergarten will present “This Land Is Your Land, This Land Is My Land”. The first grades will be giving “A Salute to America’s People”. The second grade is going to show their red, white, and blue, as they present “Yankee Doodle”. The third grade is planning to portray firemen, policemen, and Red Cross members to show their appreciation when the present “New York, New York”. The forth grade will dramatize their version of “U.S.A!” while the fifth grade plans to portray different members of the military branches during their “Salute to the Armed Services”. The sixth grade will let their true patriotism shine through as they perform a “Salute to the Flags”.

Escape from Boredom during
the Holidays

     During the Thanksgiving season, many families spend time together even after the main course. One very popular activity is hitting the theaters to catch the newest blockbuster.
